Local walk over Roils Head produced a nice Brambling but not much else.

26th March

Out with Andy C today and almost the first bird we had was a stunning first winter Red Kite that flew strait past us low down. I scrambled to get the camera out and with no time to check settings just fired off as many as I could. Also today 1 Hen, 6 Buzzards, 1 Merlin, 1 Sparrowhawk, Kestrels, one robbing a Shortie of its catch. 6 Shorties, 1 Barn Owl, at least 5 Redshanks etc.

24th March

Me and Dave tried out our alternate site today before moving on to our usual haunts. Raptors were in evidence with 5 Buzzards, 1 Peregrine, 2 Sparrowhawks and 2 Kestrels at our first site. Managed a few shots with the new Lumix but the sky was terrible so had to over compensate with exposure. Elsewhere, 4 more Buzzards, another Peregrine and Sparrowhawk, only one Shortie, 4 Redshanks, Herring Gull, 2 Siskin etc.

19th March

Out and about with AC today, and it turned out to be an Owl day with 14 Short-eared and 4 Barn Owls recorded. Also a very nice find was a pair of Pintails on one of the reservoirs. Other goodies included Merlin, Hen Harrier, Common Buzzard, 3 Ravens, 60 Goldies, 20 Oycs, 3 Redshank, 3 Snipe, 4 Siskin, 3 Song Thrush, Grey Wagtail and 800 Starlings.

17th March

All the usual suspects today, 5 Shorties, 2 Barn Owls, 1 Hen, 2 Buzzards, 3 Ravens, 20+ Oystercatchers, 1 Redshank, loads of Curlew and Lapwing, 7 Goldies etc.

11th March

Another year older today so off with the new Lumix to try out on the local Common Gulls. Whilst taking pictures of the commons I found a lone Herring feeding in a nearby field. Not much else but a Blue Tit prospecting a hole in a telegraph pole.

9th March

Another day on the tops brought a surprise odd looking pipit thought to be a Icelandic Meadow, also 2 Crossbills nearby, Sparrowhawk, Buzzard, Hen, 3 Barn Owls, 2 Shorties, 200 Curlew etc.

6th March

The local Frogs are back spawning almost 2 weeks early. Tried the new camera out on a few Skylarks in flight, still not quiet got to grips with it yet.

2nd March

Tried out the new Lumix over the last 2 days and these were the best I got out of 200 shots, conditions were not great though.
