26th March

Local watch point again. Todays count, 5 Buzzards, 6 Kestrels, 1 Sparrowhawk, 2 Ravens, 3 Herring Gulls, 1 Snipe and 2 Greylag Geese. Looks like I just missed out on a Red Kite seen over the valley behind me. Just been looking at past sightings Ive had from here which have included 1 Osprey, 5 Red Kites, 4 Marsh Harriers, 2 Hen Harriers, 2 Merlins, 1 SEO, Buzzard, Kestrel and Peregrine. Not had Hobby or Gos yet but who knows????

Had a walk up to a local watch point today with my brother for a couple of hours. It was freezing and we only managed 4 Buzzards and 4 Herring Gulls and that was about it.

A Red Kite was a nice surprise today over my local spot at Roils Head, looked like it had wing tags on both wings. No camera with me sadly.

15th March Old Stomping Grounds

Visited my old stomping grounds at Cold Edge Dams today,somewhere I have not been to in a while. 3 Goldeneye were joined by 3 Goosanders and 2 Tufties. Then moved on to usual spot, Peregrine, Buzzard, 100+ Goldies + usual moorland waders.

Phone Scoped Crossbill

Two of todays Crossbills.

13th March

Finally got out again this afternoon and clocked up 40 species, the highlights being 3 Crossbills in a flock with 3 Redpolls, 1 Brambling and several Siskins. 2 Red-legged Partridge, a Stonechat, 1 Peregrine, 1 Kestrel, 2 Buzzards, 2 Ravens a Woodcock, 50 Curlews, 30 Oystercatchers, at least 7 Redshanks, 5 Snipe etc.

Usual moorland areas produced 2 Hens, 4 Buzzards, 1 Kestrel, 158 Curlews, the odd Goldie and 100+ Lapwings.
