Hen Harrier was seen to make a kill today

Out on the moors today and 2 Hen Harriers were seen, this one a juvenile, also 1 Peregrine 4 Buzzards, 4 Kestrels, 1 Barn Owl, 1 Red-legged Partridge and we just missed out on a Marsh Harrier and a Yellow Wagtail.

Another Redstart at Roils Head today was about it.
17th and 18th September
17th Sept, 1 Redstart and 1 Chiffchaff at Roils Head. 18th Sept, female Hen Harrier in usual spot, also Merlin and Common Buzzard, a family party of 6 Pink-footed Geese and a Great Crested Grebe on the reservoir, Great Spot Woodpecker and a flock of 88 Goldfinches nearby.

14th September, Hen Harrier in usual spot + Whinchat nearby, 15th September, 3 Redstarts at Roils Head then a quick dash over to Fairburn Ings with Roy for my fourth Long-billed Dowitcher in Britain, first for 21 years and second for Yorkshire.

Todays highlights were the first summer male Marsh Harrier coming in to roost and a Ring Ouzel roosting with a group of Fieldfares.
