29th February

 Had a walk up to see if my local pair of Buzzards were present and was surprised to find Rusty and his mate on site. This pair usually breed some 3km to the west, there was no sign of the dark male Ive named Morgoth or his mate. Also 2 Kestrels, 20 Stock Doves, 20 Fieldfares, 20 Meadow Pipits north, 1 Jay, 1 Nuthatch + lots of tits and Chaffinches.

24th February

Out with DJS today, first stop produced 2 Common Buzzards, 1 Peregrine, 2 Kestrels and a couple of Siskins. On the tops 2 Ravens, 4 Greylags and 6 Tufted Ducks thats all.

19th February

Not much doing so had another go at the local BHGs today.

15th February

 Crossbills, digi scoped in bad light.

 Whats the point in this.

Out with DJS this afternoon and a great start with a Raven in the first 2 minutes followed by a Sparrowhawk then a flock of 18+ Crossbills. 2 Peregrines, 2 Buzzards, 2 more Ravens, another Sparrowhawk, 3 Kestrels and the best bird a ringtail Hen Harrier. A few Siskin about and a nice flock of Fieldfare. There must have been at least 250 Moles hung on a barb wire fence, dont understand why anyone would do this ???

12th February

Back to Luddenden Dean this PM with SC looking for the Northern Long-tailed Tits, we managed to find one but wasnt able to get any decent photos. Also 80 Bramblings went to roost at Castle Carr at dusk. Also present 1 Nuthatch, 1 Green Woodpecker, 1 Great Spot, 2 Treecreeper, 1 Kestrel + lots of tits and finches.

More Black-heads

Dropped off the 2010 Bird Report at Woodlesford News Agents then with the light being good had another go at the local Black-headed Gulls. Not much else about except for 25 Fieldfares at Tower Hill.

Went with DJS to see Tall Andy,s Jackdaw at Northowram today. Looks good to me for the eastern race soemmerringii or cross with northern scandinavian race. Also 3 GBBGs over, 1 Stock Dove and a Sparrowhawk.
