31st March

OAK BEAUTY
TOAD
Out mothing at Hardcastle Crags last night with 6 other enthusiasts. It started slow the first thing found was a toad then slowly the moths began to arrive. Around 100 moths were trapped of some 13 or 14 species the best of which I found as we were packing up, an Oak Beauty a first for me and a few others. Birds recorded included Nuthatch, Sparrowhawk, several Tawny Owls heard and a few Woodcocks roding.
